    Saturday

Cool A cloudyass, foggy day out there today. Tossed and turned last night, but got some bona fide sleep in there. In and out of dreamland. Not feeling the worse for wear though. Tuesday I made a trip to Monster Pawn, and got talking to someone around my age. Fellow musician. He said, "I don't really feel bad, but I don't quite feel good either".
Actually, I still feel good most of the time. There are a few aches and pains, and the occasional night of tossing and turning, but nothing major. I've just gotta remember the preventative stuff. For me, the "ounce of prevention" means getting out of the house at least every other day, and maintaining a regular exercise program. As long as I'm on top of those two things, all is usually swell.
Old person stuff. I used to play in a band with people all 30 or more years my senior. Aside from gabbing for 15 minutes in between every song(which often degenerated into bickering), they talked deterioration. All the stuff that either falls off your body or withers and decays. It was happening to all their friends of the same age, and to themselves, to a degree.
Good Lord, now I'm in that boat too! Well at least I try not to discuss deterioration..
And in here I at least try to discuss music
So, music news. A gig this coming Friday, three in August, one in September.(see the Gigs page of my site for more).  Still practicing, and still occasionally posting on YouTube. Up to 45 subscribers at the moment. It's free, and the notifications you get are pretty unobtrusive.
Okay, that's my sales pitch. Actually, I'd like to get back into writing some things. Just a question of re-opening that door. Haven't thought in those terms for awhile. Still practicing guitar, paying more homage to the Bitch Goddess of Technique. Jazz is, in many respects, a virtuostic art. The music is often technically challenging, so you need chops just to keep up. Realizing all the while that chops are just a means, and should always be used in service of the idea, not your ego!
And that's my two cents on this foggy, slightly groggy morning. Thanks for reading, whoever-is-still-here. Happy Saturday to you. Ich bin outa here. More later.
