A partly sunny day out there today, and decidedly colder. Nice and rested, and ready to tackle- waking up. That's what I'm ready to tackle at this juncture. Waking up takes awhile for me, even with plenty of sleep.
Yesterday turned out to be a day of sterling virtue. This means that I exercised and practiced. A day of exercise without the complement of guitar practice is simply virtuous. So in my state of sterling virtue I recorded a few things. The computer was acting up last night, and I wasn't able to access them, so I'm hoping today will be better.
I even got my monthly newsletter out. Once every 4 weeks or so, I send an email out to about 150 people with my gig schedule plus some glib remarks about whatever. I sometimes make a remark about Alvin and the Chipmunks, just to be a bit of a curmudgeon.
I don't really hate the Chipmunks. Most of the time I don't even think about them. They do irritate me, but I recognize that they have just as much right to exist as I do(and they make so many stupid people happy!). So at Christmastime, when they're more prevalent in the media, I say my little bit to/about them, and usually don't think about them for another eleven months.
Same thing with Kenny G. An irritant, but like Alvin and his crew, has that ability to make so many stupid people happy. However, a special with Kenny G and The Chipmunks would probably put me over the edge. Something like a diabetic coma...
And I'm not even diabetic.
One show I saw recently that I did like was Ghost Town. Starring Ricky Gervais(sp?), set in Manhattan(I love movies set in NYC). Nothing special- in fact the plot is indistinguishable from so many other feel-good comedies. But Gervais is a pretty good comedian, it's nice and light, and it does make you feel good.
Sometimes that's just what you need.
Possibly some more music up on YouTube. Gotta listen to yesterday's guitarings, and see if anything works.
Guitarings. Machinations on guitar. I think I like guitarings better.
One thing about retirement: these posts seem to be getting longer. I had 'em nice and concise, but that seems to be slipping away. Oh well. Thanks for reading,whoever-reads-this. More later.
