    Wednesday

Cool Another day in Paradise. The sun is shining, the birds-well I guess they were singing. Anyway, all the makings of a great day. The world is still coming into focus as I drink that first cup of Morning Joe. I'm like an engine that has to warm up before it can take you anyplace. For now I'm just sitting in the driveway. Polluting the air with my exhaust fumes..
Music news. Some recommended listening, for starters. Peter Sprague is a great guitarist, probably not that well known but should be. It's axiomatic that  for every "A-list" musician, there are are a couple hundred who should be there but missed it due to drugs/marital woes/the heartbreak of Psoriasis/just not being in the right place at the right time.
His album Taking it All In is straight-ahead jazz with some folk leanings. Also influenced by Chick Corea and Pat Metheny. Sprague is one hell of a picker through all this. He's got all the technique you'd want, but never uses it gratuitously. Always in the context of the music.
As for me, I'm still plugging away. A great practice session yesterday. Nothing for the YouTube page, but progress was made all the same. And in saying that, I realize that progress is seldom if ever a straight line but rather more circuitous. It zigzags around, back and forth, mabye even backpedals a little bit. But if you put in the work, and practice intelligently, you will get better. Maybe not all the way, but still- better.
So I guess that was my little pep talk to myself as well, as I'm working to improve my guitar playing. Really, I think we should always have something we're working to get better at, even if it's just your Golf game. My pronouncement for all of humanity here..
Starting to wake up now on my second cup of coffee. Had fun writing this. Hopefully it's fun to read. So thanks, whoever-is-still-reading-this. Happy hump day to you. Je suis outa here. More later.
