Good morning. Another glorious day in the neighborhood. Already 86 degrees at 11 in the morning, so we're due for a scorcher. I like my weather warm but not steamy hot. When it's steamy hot, my house is either an oven or an icebox, so your body is always adjusting. Bitch bitch bitch....
So with no gig on Friday, I now have 0 gigs booked for September. I had an April like that this year as well. First time in I don't know how long I've had completely dry months like these. But April was a good month otherwise: kept up my exercising better, and thus had a perfect record for sleeping.
Then again, you don't want to isolate too much. That can be dangerous, and ultimately deleterious to your physical and mental health. So it's important to get out and interact with other folks- even if it means a funky night of sleep here and there. My Mom used to say that you had to have something to escape from. I'm realizing the truth in that remark as I get older..
I'm still trying to keep up my practicing. Still posting to YouTube, and probably have something up there you haven't heard. And still doing a lot of listening- to guitarists of course, but also sax players, trumpet players, trombonists, pianists, drummers and bass players. And even a few vocalists. Listening is key.
That's all the news I can think of. If you're a boxing fan, you might like the documentary Tyson, about the life of 'Iron" Mike Tyson. At the end of the film, he expressed many regrets over his 'bad' behavior that he'd exhibited- but still, the man did some living. He should allow himself to enjoy some of the heights he reached in both his personal and professional lives. In his prime as a boxer, he was the baddest cat on the scene. He would usually make mincemeat out of his opponents in the first round.
Anyway! Thanks for reading all this. Happy hump day to you- and happy Wednesday. I'm outa here. More later.
