    Thursday

Cool This has all the makings of a good day. It's a bright sunny day(my favorite!)and I had a great night's sleep, the kind where your head hits the pillow and the next thing you know it's morning.
Yesterday was kind of a weird day. Couldn't seem to bring myself to post. But the day ended well, with a resolution on my part. It's one I've made before, so it may be one of those things that takes a couple tries to accomplish. Like quitting smoking. Many attempts there, and finally there was one college try that "graduated". Or at least matriculated.
My resolution was to develop a thicker skin. To cease caring what anybody else says or does. I have a bad habit of taking all that shit seriously, which usually serves no other purpose than getting me all pissed off. So once again, I'm endeavoring to change my behavior.
Other people are just going to say what they want, which is usually based on making them feel better, not you. I can't change that, but I can change how I react to it. So, as the saying goes, give me the courage to change what I can change.
And I've done it before, at least temporarily. There have been times when I was relatively impervious to the slings and arrows of outrageous others.. But, alas, I'd lose that extra layer of dermis and be right back where I started. Still, if I can do it at all, I should be able to do it again, and maybe push through and keep going this time, just like I did with cigarettes. And if I relapse, just get back on that horse.

Music news. Listening to an album by Grant Green, called Sunday Mornin'. This recording was made in 1961, and also features Kenny Drew Sr. on piano. Green is not a chop-monster, compared to some other guitarists, but he plays with taste and style. And he does have nice lines when he feels like playing them. For the most part, his playing is more spare. But it swings! So- a recommended album and a recommended guitarist.
          **********************************************
Good to get some music news in there on this otherwise introspective post. But I had to get that stuff off my chest. As I said at the outset, this has all the makings of a good day. Up to and including my Resolution.
That's all I've got for the moment. More music should be forthcoming today. If any of it passes my stringent requirements, I'll be glad to post it. Actually the only real requirement is that it swings. Or grooves. And there aren't too many clams.
Thanks for reading. Happy Thursday to you. I'm outa here. More later.
