    Friday

Cool Good morning, whoever-reads-this. In bed at 11:52, up around 7:30. Better. The last three days have been just a bit behind the 8-ball. Sleeping, just not quite enough. So after a patch like that, I'll have an adequate night's sleep and then a great one.
I think I've made some progress though. My bad nights are much less frequent,  and not nearly as bad. Yay me..
Music news. Posted something on YouTube yesterday. I've been shedding this week, and starting to get some of my chops back. Actually the first thing I lose if I haven't been playing enough is rhythm. Can't seem to find one with both hands. But when I am practicing, time is the first thing that returns.
Today should be a good shedding day. Yesterday was an errands and exercise day, and the only day I missed practicing. But I'll make up for it today.
Last night's listening was Joshua Breakstone's Let's Call this Monk. He did a series of tribute albums: one for Bud Powell, one for Wes Mongomery, one for Grant Green. First-rate playing on this one as usual- great performances by all three guys on this record(Dennis Irwin, bass; Mickey Roker, drums).
Breakstone is good to listen to when you're working on your time. His is flawless, at pretty much any tempo.  Most of us pull or push to some extent, but his is right in the pocket..
It's a great feeling to be working away and hear yourself getting better. Hearing my time get better, looser. I believe that you can fix damn near anything that's wrong with your playing. It just takes resolve, and some elbow grease.
Well I guess that's all the news fit to print on this Friday morning. Thanks for reading, whoever-reads-this. TGIF if it applies. Ich bin outa here. More later.
