    Happy New Year!

CoolFirst day of the new year! Brilliantly sunny but cold as all getout. -12 at this writing, supposed to rise to a balmy 4 degrees in late afternoon.
I didn't do the traditional New Year's Eve gig. but I did play in the afternoon, for about 20 minutes. It's an annual thing at Springfield High School, with several events including my friend's Harmonica Master Class.
Did it last year as well. Last December 31st it was about 35 degrees out, so we had the elements on our side. I was suffering with insomnia and hadn't slept well in a couple days, so I was a bit loopy.
This year I had a great night's sleep and was feeling good but it was about 6 degrees out. That seemed to be the tradeoff this year: you can feel good, but you won't want to go outside.
This is definitely a stay-inside day. I have trash to take out to the alley, and that will be my big expedition for this New Year's Day. Otherwise, I'm a non-budgin' curmudgeon.

It should also be a guitar day. Last night was a good picking session. Nothing to save to YouTube this time, but still a good workout. There is one I put up yesterday, called Smoothy, that people seem to like.
Twelve below or not, this is still one of my favorite parts of the day. Easing into the morning with a bit of blogging and several cups of Morning Joe.
From here, it's off to Lumosity to do 5 of their games. That neuroscience stuff. Challenging the old encephalon in a number of ways. They have a set for me every day, with the option to choose another if I don't like the games they pick. It's been a couple years now, and still going strong. Some of the games I've topped out on, and others I'll still be playing into my 70's..
Okay then. This is probably enough tongue-wagging from me for now. Thanks for reading, whoever-reads-this. And Happy New Year! More later.
