It's too damn hot! I think there's a Cole Porter song with that title. 91 degrees at 8:40 in the evening.
Not too much to report. There's a vocalist I'm gonna be working with on September 3rd in Jacksonville(see the Gigs page for more), doing songs from WWI. A lot of Irving Berlin in there. She and I finally talked on Sunday, after much phone tag(sounds like a day of the week in German). Should be fun. I like doing projects like this as opposed to the usual bar gigs.
Tonight was one of the usual bar gigs, for an open mic night. Just an hour's worth of music with a good R & B band. And it was a band I've never played with. I'd worked with one of the two keyboardists, but everyone else was new to my experience. Another name to add to the site here. I have 'em all listed(all I can remember at any rate)on my Fun Facts page, all the bands I've ever played or subbed with.
I avoid bar gigs, but sometimes it's cool in that you sometimes run into folks you haven't seen in awhile. So that was a nice element. Also it was just an hour. I've found that you can do most anything for 60 minutes or less- especially if you're getting paid for it.
Tomorrow is a day of sloth and inactivity, except for working out. Thursday is a gig in Bloomington at Jazz Up Front. I don't do many out of town gigs, but thought I'd make an exception here.
Okay, that's all the news fit to print. Sorry, but no new YouTube stuff. I'm sure I'll get inspired again soon..Thanks for reading, whoever you are. More later.
