Good morning, whoever-reads-this. In bed at 12:34, up around 8. I woke up in the middle of the night, as happens sometimes, popped a Melatonin, and ended up losing a tooth! Got back to sleep, though not immediately, and woke up too early, only to go back to sleep again. Somehow there were around 7 hours of sleep in there. Maybe 6, but sort of enough.
The guitar did not get any action yesterday, despite my good intentions. I think maybe I just need new stuff to play along with. Something... I've been enjoying a life refreshingly bereft of drama these days, but also devoid of excitement. Calm is good, but you do need a bit of fun in there.
One good thing is happening with me. The end of the day, in preparation for sleep, I turn off all the visual stimuli- such as the TV and computer- and listen to something. Of late, I've been listening to a group made up of Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Joey DeFrancesco and other heavies. Some amazing stuff to come out of these three, particularly Brecker. Very inspiring.
Being retired and all, I no longer have the drive for success as far as promoting my music. I still try and push my new YouTube posts and CDs, but am just not as- well, driven! My drummer in the SC3 said of his own drives, that the fire was soon to be extinguished, before leaving the group. I still have the fire but maybe it needs to be re-lit.
So that's where I'm at, at least this morning. Still in the game, more or less. And that's the only sports analogy you'll get outa me, if I can help it. Me no like sports analogy. Words like hackneyed and cheesy come to mind. Well, one thing I definitely need is another cup of coffee. So, on to Morning Joe #2. Thanks for reading, whoever-reads-this. Happy Tuesday to you. More later.
