Good morning! That used to be a contradiction in terms, like "happy Monday". Mondays were hardly ever happy in our office unless you had the day off. We did have a few calm Mondays, but they were as rare as the Dodo Bird. Maybe 3 in my 22 years there.
And mornings were often shot to hell by early morning complaints by our claimants(basically, I-didn't-get-my-money and variants thereof)or by the various morning people in the office and their jabbering.
Monday is now a peaceful day, even when I have errands to run or people I have to see. Usually more like a Sunday, particularly if I've played over the weekend. And mornings are wonderfully quiet and peaceful. I have my tasks for every morning, but they're done at a leisurely pace. Ease on into that day..
I got in some practicing yesterday. Recorded a few things, kept two of them, may post one of them on YouTube at some point. Many are called but few are chosen.
I'm getting a better time-sense in my playing. Trying to leave more space. Learning to keep the time in my head while playing. All these things are working. And if I "relapse" and rush a tempo, I'll usually catch it. Lay out, get your bearings and 're-set'.
Some years back, it was said of my by another guitarist that I fall off the horse every so often, but get right back on. I always liked that remark because it was honest but at the same time charitable. These days, the ride may get choppy, but I try not to fall off..
When you make improvements in your playing, it's never a sudden thing. They happen a little bit at a time. These new improved habits have to work their way into the fabric. And you have to keep at it, keep workin' it, or they'll fade. Well at least it's fun work (another oxymoron..).
I guess that's what I had in me to say this morning. Still plugging away. Today should be a good guitar day, as there's nothing else on the books. As usual, anything salvageable- anything that stays on the horse- I'll be glad to share with you. So, thanks for reading. Happy Tuesday to you! I'm outa here. More later.
